Toi fluttered after Edan and sighed; her wings were getting tired. This was a lot of flying to do in a single day for a little kiin! She didn't want Edan to get more angry, though. She wouldn't like him when he was angry. ((Sorry, just saw Hulk last night XD )) So she strained to keep up, but she was getting slower and slower, drifting downward til her long tail poof dragged in the grass.
She was doing just fine, though, til her tail got snagged on a thistle. Then, with a startled yelp, she fell down into the grass. Secretly she was glad for the rest, but she grabbed her tail in her teeth and yanked, trying to dislodge the long black hairs from the sticky thistle, growling in the back of her throat. If she didn't hurry and catch up, Edan would be gone and she'd be alone again!

Edan glanced around, still hoping to find a big teal female so he could stop babysitting this flitter. At the very least, he hoped for a distraction. One female kiin caught his eye, and he turned his head and slowed down to watch her. She was black, standing out starkly against the colors of the other pykiin. Edan felt almost like he knew her, or at least like he should. Shaking his head, he continued to guide Toi toward the cliff.
He stopped with a sigh when Toi got her tail caught on something. Waiting for her to get free, he said, "This is rediculous. We'll never find your sister at this rate." With another sigh, he added, "You can ride on my back until we get to the cliff." He only hoped he didn't regret the decision too much.

Nuri's daydreaming had been cut short with the somewhat arrival of two more kiin, as she had felt eyes looking at her, yet when she looked around there were no eyes looking at her, but there were two kins in the near distance. They seem to have stopped though as once seemed to be struggling with something. She coulnd't be sure what was exactly going on, or even who they were.

Edan glanced again at the black kiin, only to find her looking back at him. His first impulse was to pretent he wasn't looking, but he mastered it and met her eyes over the distance. The feeling that he should know this kiin intensified. Finally, Edan looked away, tapping his paw impatiently as Toi struggled with the thorns.

Toi squeaked with happiness at Edan's suggestion. Really she felt so much safer when she was being cared for. It was a terrible time when her parents disappeared and Bergy was out adventuring... and she and Luin were left on their own. Ever since her older sister's return she hadn't let the other female out of her sight... well, until the Valley...
With a final tug Toi fell over backwards, finally free of the bramble and leaving a clump of long black hairs twisted around the nettle. She jumped to her feet immediately, half running/half hopping over to where Edan waited with thinly veiled impatience. "Th-thank you!" she panted, fluttering up to cling needfully to his back, her front paws twining in his fluffy mane.
She peered around his head and saw the shape of a small black Pykiin not too far from where they stood. "Who's that?" she asked, since the figure was looking right at them.

The orange kiin had glanced back at Nuri, looked her right in the eye. It was a strange feeling, as though she knew him. She thought about all the kiin she had met, searching for any that were orange, yet coming up with no names. She was greatly confused but intrigued at the same time.
Taking only a few steps closer she stopped. Soemwhere int eh back of her head her mother's voice could be heard, 'you shouldn't just walk up to strangers as they could hurt you'. How could that be true, they were kiin, in the Valley, plus she was near the Dryad. Surely it would protect her?
She tried to get ehr feet to move ehr when she realized that the pair had somehow figured otu what was going on and they seemed to be moving again. She felt as though her feet planted themselves and she continued to stare, and told herself in a whisper "if they come up to me and start talking then I won't count them to be strangers mom".

Edan sighed heavily and let Toi clamber onto his back. He glanced back at the black kiin. "I don't know who that is," he answered the flitter, and after a pause, added, "Why don't we find out?" He detoured from the planned path. After all, now that Toi was riding they'd be able to move faster. Coming nearer the black kiin, his brow furrowed as he tried to place her. Finally he gave up. "Do I know you?"

The question seemed harsh and almost wrong, but it needed to be asked, as she too was goign to ask that very question. "I don't recognize you but you do seem vaguely....." She answered and trailed off. Maybe the answer was hidden in his name, "What's your name?" She looked at the little flitter, "the both of you?" She added.

Toi squeaked and ducked her head behind Edan, hiding from view. The stranger didn't look very dangerous but then again, who knew what could be dangerous here!
At the soft tone of the other kiin, however, Toi poked her head back around. She seemed nice. "I'm Toi!" she said in a high voice.

"And I am Edan," he answered, with a similar look on his face. "I feel like I should know you, but I can't seem to place you in my mind," he admitted, brow creasing. Turning his head to look at Toi, he said, "Calm down, nothing's going to hurt you." He was getting seriously irritated by the kiin's constant jittering.

"Toi, Nice to meet you" She sensed the little flitter had some trust issues, as she knew the signs so well. She waited very patiently for the male kiin to state his name, hoping it held some clues.
As he said his name she instantly placed him, but had to be sure she was correct, her mother spoke often of an Edan that was Nuri's brother, so she said nothing but did offer her name, "Well hello Edan, my name is Nuri" She wanted to see if he could place her with only her name, and if not then maybe she would give out another name. She really didn't want to be wrong about this.

Chastined, Toi sat back and tried to look calm and reserved. She twirled her tail around her body and forced her wings to sit still. "She seems nice," she whispered in Edan's ear.

"Uh-huh," Edan acknowledged Toi's comment, his attention focused on Nuri. "Nice to meet you Nuri." He concentrated, trying to remember if someone might have mentioned her name to him. "I know I've heard your name, and I should remember. It was important..." He trailed off, and shrugged. "I just can't dredge it up. I probably wasn't paying attention at the time. Do you know why we would know each other?"

"I think you have heard my name" She was almost singing she was excited. (Not actually singing just the excited bounce in her voice). She was really excited that she was on to something, but didnt' know how this would go about so she decided to start it slow, that way she could figure out how he felt about this, as she heard from her mother and fther that Edan was not a nice kiin for her to play with, they considered him 'unstable' So she added, "but I think you know my mother's name more." She baited him with the question, knowing he would have to ask her who her mother was.

Edan waited impatiently, until it was clear Nuri was going to wait for him to ask. Fine, he'd play the game, but he wasn't going to be happy about it. "And she is?" he asked finally, the unfriendly growl back in his voice.
