Edan's anger smoldered deep within as he stalked out of Serisai's grove. He still could not bear to call the place home, though he'd lived there quite some time. A tree would never be home to one born of fire.
"Earth powers, hah!" The bright kiin grumbled. "Fire is more powerful, Fire consumes Earth. Earth cannot hope to stand up to fire!" His voice rose, and he glanced around, lowering it again. "They fear me, they all do. They know how powerful I'll be. How powerful I am!"
The future fire elemental fell silent, though he still growled beneath his breath. He couldn't stand that glorified treehouse, with the cloying earth magics all around. He just had to get out, so he'd stormed away from the communal meal. He knew someone followed him, probably quiet Isalair. He knew she'd report his every word to Serisai, his guardian, though not through his choice. He didn't care.
Edan was angry, and he didn't care who knew.

Along the edge of the Valley a small dark shape flittered from shadow to shadow. Not in a secretive manner, but more like a searching manner. Once in a while a faint beam of sunlight would strike on bright cyan or magenta wings, vanishing in an instant by the constant rate of flapping.
"Mmmmmnnn...." a little voice murmured to herself. "Hmm hmm hmm!"
Two bright cyan eyes peering from a dark gray and black face turned away from the shadows and across the Valley floor. They widened as they saw a moving shape close by. An orange shape was stalking through the grass, head down, tail twitching in ire.
"!!!!!!" She zipped up in the air and across the grass, heading for the first living creature she'd seen in days. She pushed her wings to flap fasterfasterfaster. Must catch up! She panted as she flew up to the person and hovered in front of him.
"H-hi!" her voice came out a tiny squeak.

Edan stopped sharply. "Who's there," he demanded authoritatively. His eyes darted to and fro across the shady landscape. "Show yourself!" He planted his feet firmly, ready for anything. In fact, he was almost spoiling for a fight. He was sick to death of good behavior.

(( i126.photobucket.com/albums/p112/Pykiin/350-400/397cert.png )) Toi pulled up quick as she heard the person's sharp voice. Ohdear! Ohdearohdearohdear! The little Flitterkin froze...and then fell down into the grass as her wings stopped flapping. "S-sorry," she squeaked out, backing away quickly. "Sorry! ....SORRY!" She tried to hide behind her big fluffy tail, hoping the sharp-tongued creature would decide not to eat her now that he knew where she was.

Edan stared at the little flitter for a long moment, then he snorted. "Just a little flitter," he muttered to himself. "It's fine," he said more loudly, annoyed. Turning away, he rolled his eyes and set off in another direction, away from her, but also away from 'home.'

Toi peeked from around her tail when she heard the voice walking away. What was happening? He was going away? ...he was going away!
"W-wait!" Toi squeaked. She fluttered her wings enough to pick up into the air again, trailing after him. "Please wait!" she whimpered.

Edan stopped walking, but didn't turn around. "What do you want?" he asked, enunciating clearly, as though he measured his words with a straightedge.

Toi sunk back into the grass again, feeling safe hidden by the tall greenery. "I-I'm lost," she whispered. "I dunno where I am, or where my brother or sister are... C-can you help?"

((I just have to say that I love the way both of you are roleplaying. Edan is so power-hungry, and Toi is just so adorable, I love how her thoughts are so... flitterkiin. There's no other way to describe it :3 ))

Edan gave a low growl. "Fine," he answered shortly. "Where do you live?" His words were clipped and terse. He did not want to waste his precious minutes of freedom getting a lost flitter home. At any moment, Seri could come looking for him and force him to go back to her tree, and his night pretending to be alone would be lost. He only prayed that this kiin wasn't too far out of her way.

Toi poked her head up out of the grass and looked left, then right. Mostly she saw lots of grass and lots of trees. Nothing was familiar. "Um, I dunno. Where are we?" she asked in a little voice.

"We're in the woods north of the Dryad," Edan answered with a growl. Suddenly he had an idea to get rid of this tiny fluttering pest. "If I get you to the Dryad, can you get home?" Everyone knew where the Dryad was.

Toi blinked her big cyan eyes. "What's a Dryad?" she asked.

"What's a..." he repeated in disbelief. "This could only happen to me." He glared at the sky, visible through the canopy. "Fine. Let's go, hopefully we'll run into someone looking for you." Edan turned toward the Dryad and stalked off, thinking that at least there was more clear space around the Dryad, maybe he could foist this pest off on someone else.

Toi fluttered her wings a bit and lifted into the air, drifting next to the orange boy as he walked through the grass. He parted the tall strands easily, but she knew from experience that it was difficult for her, so she opted to fly instead.
"Was someone mean to you?" she asked, watching his quick, angry movments.
