The firey kiin growled low in his throat. "Mean?" He gave a sharp, angry laugh. "They took me away from the only father I've known, told me he wasn't my father, some other pykiin I've barely met and already hate is instead. They put me in the care of a stuffy Earth elemental who's trying to teach me to behave." He tossed his head angrily, glaring at anything that came into his line of sight. "All I want is to be a fire elemental and to go back to my real father."

Toi blinked several times, and the uncomfortable silence stretched over the grass. She fluttered up a little higher into the air, then sank back down to her previous spot. She looked around at the sky and the grass and the tree they were passing by, before looking back at the orange boy.
After a long moment she spoke, "My dad's gone too. And my mom. It's just me and my sister and brother. My name's Toi."

"That's-" Edan cut himself off. What he'd been going to say was not nice, and not necessary. Instead, he finished, "-sad. But I'm sure you and your siblings will be fine in the Valley." He lapsed into silence again, but it nagged at him. Frustrated, he spoke again. "I'm told I have a mother, father, and two sibling living here in the Valley. I've met some of them. I just don't like them." After another long, strained pause, he said, "My name is Edan."

Toi smiled. It was much nicer talking to 'Edan,' rather than talking to 'the orange boy.'
"You have a family! That's special. Not all Pykiin do, you know. Some fall off the tree without any mom or dad or siblings. But Bergy says family is whoever loves you, it doesn't have to be one of those. How come you can't be with your dad? How come you have to go see you other dad?" Toi fluttered closer to Edan, curious.

"My father sent me back to the Valley," Edan answered unwillingly. "I needed to meet other pykiin. But I ran into Flamepaw here, and he claims to be my real father. He's not!" Edan yelled into the sky. "I know my father, I've always known my father! Even if Flamepaw's blood is in me, he'll never be my father," he finished more quietly.

Toi looked up at the sky, but didn't see anyone. She looked back at Edan. "Family is important. That's why I gotta find Bergy and Luin! I'll bet they know family is important, too. Maybe after you make new friends you can go back to your dad!" She beamed, proud of herself for the idea.

"I hope so," Edan murmured as he broke through the tree cover. "There, there's the Dryad. Do you recognize this place? Anyone around that you know?" He asked hopefully. He was terribly uncomfortable with all that he'd revealed to the little flitter, so he wanted to get rid of her faster than ever.

Toi looked around. There were several colorful Pykiin in and around the giant tree. She eeped and hid behind Edan, glancing around his big fluffy mane. "That's a lot of people!" she said, wide eyed. "I-I don't know if I want to go over there...."

Edan gave a long suffering sigh. There went his quiet evening. "What do your siblings look like?" he asked, starting to move in a circle around the gatherings at the Dryad.

Toi galloped after him and took off into the air, keeping Edan between her and the giant tree with all the Pykiin around it.
"Bergy's my big sister. She's big and pretty and teal and she's got spots and long hair and wings and a dragon necklace on it's very special and I'm not allowed to touch it. Luin--" She paused for breath. "Luin is blue and white and he's got wings too and he has bracelets on but I haven't seen him before we got here..."

"So we're looking for your big teal sister," Edan said with a sigh, scanning the crowds around the Dryad. "Do you have any idea where to start looking? Does she know where you got lost, will she be looking for you, do you have a den, are you staying with pouncemates?" Edan spouted off questions, not really expecting that any of the answers would help. He had given up hope of having a nice evening, or really any evening at all.

Toi nestled closer to Edan's fluffy mane. She knew the tough Pykiin wouldn't let anyone bother either of them, so she felt safe near him. "Um," she said, trying to make Edan happy by answering his questions, "I came here with Bergy. We were all by ourselves, we don't have any other friends. I know she's gotta be looking for me!"
The little flitterkin brightened. "I know! We can go someplace high! Then we'll see far and far, right?"

((Maybe I will try bring in one of his siblings, who is a bit ont he strange side so to speak, since she wants to become a water element, I would just need to read the whole thread....If you two don't mind))

((Go ahead, PM, that would be interesting.))
"Right, high ground," he muttered. He ws surprised Toi had actually had a good idea in all this mess. Edan turned and started for the cliff near the pond, one of the closest high places he could think of.

(( i126.photobucket.com/albums/p112/Pykiin/201-250/206cert.png)) Nuri had once again escaped the clutches of her overbearing mother to play by the Dryad. She knew it was a safe place and that her mother would be less angry when she found out Nuri had been gone, well that was the hope anyways. At the Dryad Nuri was able to listen to tales of adventure and even got to watch other elements play, which was the best reason to come to the Dryad in her opinion, as she wanted to be around water, and those who controlled it.
