((Sorry the intro's so long, I wanted to get the stuff between the two of them out of the way so others could join more easily.))
It was a strange night. The moon was out, but a cloudy sky made the light diffuse and even. Athena could not tell by looking what phase the moon was in. Of course, she knew it was full, for she kept count of the days for her ceremonies, but this night, the ceremonies for Moon's Height seemed unfitting. The tall flitter stared up at the cloudy sky, wondering.
From the sky, it seemed almost from the moon itself, came a dark shape. Rather than becoming clearer as it approached, it seemed to blend more thoroughly with the moonlight and shadow. Finally, it was before her, and still she recognized it not.
"Hail to thee, Chosen of Athena," came a low voice out of the darkness. Then did the flitter realize who stood before her.
"Hail to thee, Chosen of Hecate," she responded, as was proper. "Thy presence is unexpected, but welcomed, on this night of Moon's Height."
The grey flitter laughed, low and dark. "Dispense with the formalities, Chosen. They have never been for me." Her voice grew stern. "I have come, hoping that you will accept me here. The Temple is falling. Slowly, but it will come. They will not heed me."
"I will heed you as best as I may," Athena responded cautiously.
Hecate laughed again, speaking again after a moment. "There is another valley nearby. We will go there. Now." The Chosen of Hecate was used to being obeyed, and as she took off into the dark sky, Athena followed.

High above the Valley, Hecate's low voice carried to Athena's ears. "You will know where best to land."
"Wish you to meet the many or the few?" inquired the younger Chosen deferentially.
"A central place," the dark flitter answered, "but not crowded at this time of night."
"The Dryad," Athena decided with a smile. Everything came to the Dryad sooner or later. She began a spiral to the ground, dark Hecate following with an enigmatic smile of her own.

((That'd be great. I'm sure Hecate and Khairi will be interesting together.))
Athena fanned her wings and landed lightly in the clearing before the Dryad. Behind her, Hecate touched down, a silent wind. "What now, chosen?" Athena inquired.
"Now," the dark flitter answered with a throaty chuckle, "we wait." She stood, poised and composed, and waited in the fading light of the moon as it set.

Large brown paws thummped against the ground as the moon faded away in the Valley. Alone, a brown Pykiin ran to the Dryad. Khairi had decided to start taking early morning runs, since in the day it was too hot for running, unlike the fall, winter, and spring. As he neared the Dryad, his panting had become heavier and he stopped. He noticed two smaller Pykiin by the Dryad, very questionable.
He had heard a bit of the conversation. He had heard of Athena, and knew what she looked like, so he immidiatley recognized her. Chosen.. Is that her name? He asked himself as he turned his eyes to this "Chosen." Wait? For what? Khairi had to take action.
"What brings you two ladies to the Dryad this late.. erm.. early?" He said, struggling to construct a sentence.

"I did," Hecate said without preamble. "I am Hecate, Chosen of Hecate, as this is Athena, Chosen of Athena. I have come to your valley with poor news for this Chosen, and the need to remain, for I cannot return."
Athena stared open-mouthed at Hecate. It was unheard of for a Chosen to be so open with one not of the gods. She recovered with some difficulty and bowed to the newcomer. "Greetings. May we know your name?"

Kari stood there, shocked. Never before had he seen a female carry herself so formally and properly. Poor news.. HM. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance," He said gracefully. "I am Khairi, and this is my bonded, Missy."
A small pink and green vhimir swayed its way forward and cast a glance on the two Flitterkiin. She nodded in form of a salutation, then then retreated back to one of Khairi's soft tails.
"If you don't mind me asking," The large brown one began with hesitation, "What poor news do you bring? And from where have you come that you cannot return?"

"Greetings to you, Khairi and Missy," Hecate answered formally, with a sidelong glance at Athena. The white flitterkiin was shocked, and backed politely out of the conversation to recover. For one of the Olympian Temple, Hecate certaintly took some getting used to. She'd forgotten how eccentric Hecate was.
"I come from the Temple of the City of Olympus," she continued, "as came Athena some time ago." Her tone turned grim. "The Chosen are falling, and with them the Temple, and with it the City. I have spoken, and been unheeded, and so I may not return."

Turning slightly to bring Athena back into the conversations, she continued. "The rebels in the City proper are gaining power and confidence. No more Chosen have been lost, thank the Gods, but it's only a matter of time." The dark flitter's voice was black.

Khairi was stilled stunned by the way that the two carried themselves, especially for Flitterkiin. The Pykiin quickly regained his train of thought and replied, "Well, it's about time we have some level-headed females in the Valley. Well.. Intelligent being an understatment for you two."
"I'm sorry, however, that you cannot return to your home. It must be difficult to move from such a different atmosphere." He nodded in sympathy. He shivered on the inside at Athena's tone. Creepy, but some how very soothing to him. "I'm also sorry that you're city is falling apart like that. If there's anything you two need assistance or guidence with in the valley, please do come to me. Most others will just lead you into a foolish game or some sort." He huffed.
Khairi looked deeply into Hecate's eyes. "So there are more of you? More of the chosen? Will they all be coming to the valley?" His eyes gleamed with curiousity.

"I thank you for the offer of aid. As for the others coming," Hecate snorted strongly, and Athena winced. "I doubt it," the dark flitter answered. "They don't realize their danger, and even if they did, they would not abandon Olympus."
"Even after two of their own were killed," Athena muttered savagely. She had not forgiven the City for that. "I live in a small valley nearby with the Chosen of Apollo and another, not from the City. He is Chosen of Anubis, a god we do not know in the City, but a true one nonetheless."

"Anubis? I know of Anubis. And Apollo..." He replied, getting off-subject. He quickly whipped himself back into the conversation. Khairi absorbed their words like a sponge. This place of Olympus seemed familiar. Maybe he had read about it some where.. Or not.. It seemed interesting, in a gruesome way.
"So you two are goddesses?" He asked. He became curious about that after Athena had mentioned that Anubis was a god.

Hecate snorted inelegantly. "Not at all. That's why we're called Chosen. The gods choose their representatives in this world." She indicated her moon markings, then Athena's olive leaves. "When we became adults, our goddesses marked us as their own, and we took on their names."
Athena nodded agreement. She'd had trouble explaining this to others in the Valley, and she didn't relish doing so again.
