I was cleaning my ears with those sicks with cotton at the end. And I accidentally poked my eardrum REALLY hard, and it hurts SO MUCH! Ow ow. Have any ideas on what to do?

Go to the doctors and make sure you did not permanently make yourself Deaf on one side. My step dad did that and he can no longer hear. You should never and I mean N-E-V-E-R, stick anything smaller than your elbow in your ear.

It's used to clean your ears with. I didn't mean to. Ow. (My mum did it to me when I was little) I am not permanently deaf thank god. I ask my sister to talk into my ear while I put an earplug in the other. And I could hear.

All the nurses I've spoken to claim the only thing a Q-tip should be used for is cleaning baby's umbilical cords!

Exactly, this supprts my don't stick anything in your ear smaller than your elbow. I always would respond to this wisdom with 'But my elbow can't reach my ear!!!' when I was little...

I think that was the point though. My step dad only hears a ringing noise out of one ear doing exactly the same thing. I will never stick anything in my ear.

I've had so many sinus infections that are accompanied by ear aches, my ears are extra sensitive, which makes it easier to clean my ears because I know how far to go. I have to keep mine cleaned out because i have bad ear wax build up, and it's even built up and i couldn't hear out of that ear.
I comfort myself with the fact that I usually clean my ears at home, since my cats eat my q-tips that I have here in my apartment, is that my dad is a fully trained EMT and if something were to happen, he'd know what to do (for the most part)
After all **points to self** how many people do you know who knew how to do CPR by the age of 6? I didn't know that's what it was, but I was taught young

Wow Jade. I'm going to take my 11 year old to a First Aid course with me soon (specifically one geared towards baby sitters so he can feel confident when helping watch his little brothers) but CPR at 6 years old is waaay impressive.

in all honesty, i just thought my dad had a really big doll to play with, and I remember her name being Annie, and there was also an infant resuscitation doll, that my brother and I named Tiffanie.
I also knew at an early age how to do lots of stuff that gets you in trouble, but somehow we always managed to never get seriously injured. I grew up in the country...literately out in the sticks, and I never have had anything worse than a light sprain and an allergy attack

I'm a big supporter of kids learning CPR, because even if they can't perform it themselves on someone, they can instruct others on how to.

I grew up in the 'semi' sticks. Not real country but not big city urban either, so we got to play in the woods a LOT which was wonderful. Myself and my husband and cubs will be moving to Scotland next year and I'm really hoping we can find a place that's not too 'city-centric'... I;d rather have them falling out of trees than apartment buildings.
