Sunpaw stood before the Dryad, gazing up at the branches arcing high overhead. He had been feeling a faint tugging all day, as if he was supposed to be somewhere to meet something. He had ended up leaving the den a little after sun-high, and he had ended up here.
The Flitterkiin saw a flash of purple out of the corner of his eye and looked in time to see a purple Kinri skitter past him and then stop in the mouth of the Dryad's hollow.
There was a pause, then the Kinri snorted and stomped a tiny hoof, saying, "Well, are you coming or not? We can't stand around all day!"
Sunpaw simply blinked in surprise at the Kinri, then managed to blurt out, "Who... Who are you?"
The Kinri scowled. "I'm Lavender, okay? I'm your bonded, apparently. Happy? Now can we go? It's dark in this hollow thing, so I want to get in and out as quick as possible."
Sunpaw still hesitated, looking at the Kinri with a doubtful expression on his face. What did these spindly little creatures do, anyway? He'd never seen one before, and his parents had never mentioned them, though they were a rather unreliable source of information since they were so aloof and liked to remain separate from the rest of the valley.
"We're burning daylight, Sunpaw!" said the Kinri, before turning and disappearing into the darkness of the hollow.
Sunpaw followed, still looking rather nervous and wondering how the Kinri had known his name since he had never said it out loud.

Noel Aurora pounced on a cricket on her way to the Dryad. When she saw a brown flitter get swallowed by the Dryad. All wide eyed and creeped out she batted her wings and awkwardly flew to the trunk.
She examined it, tilting her head in a fit of confusion. Still hovering a few inches off the ground she began to think to herself out loud, "If this tree swallowed a 'Kiin how good could it be?"
Tilting her head to the other side, "Maybe it was just hungry, but it shouldn't eat 'Kiin?" Landing she crouched closer to the Dryad and placed her ear on the trunk. No sound. She knocked on it. Still nothing. "Well, it's tummy isn't making funnies."
She knocked on it again. Sighing she removed the side of her face from the massive tree and sat on a root that jutted out of the ground. "Trees don't eat 'Kiin." She stated still questioning the statement. She fluttered her wings and put a thinking mask on as she swished her tail back and forth.

It was maybe ten minutes before the Dryad's hollow suddenly began to open up again. Lavender leaped out first, looking a little spooked and blinking rapidly with the sudden increase of light. Sunpaw stumbled back out a moment later, squinting as his eyes adjusted from the darkness of the hollow to the brightness of outside. He didn't feel any different... Perhaps the Kinri hadn't caused any changes? On a random impulse, he looked down on at his legs, then back at his tail. "I take back that comment about nothing happening..." he said quietly. "Because something sure happened." "You got that right, Sunny," snapped Lavender. Catching sight of Noel Aurora, she said in a much nicer tone of voice, "And who might you be?"

Noel jumped at the sound of Sunpaw's voice. Instead of turning around she pushed her back paws and spun herself around the root hanging herself upside down.
In a stance she copied off of the bats that she once saw while exploring she cocked her head, "I'm Noel..." She squinted her eyes, looking the other 'Kiin over. Letting her mouth drop wide open she let go of the root and landed on the ground below it.
She circled him three times inspecting his markings, "You must not have been appetizing." She stated in a hushed tone before he ducked and looked at his belly. As she poked it she once again whispered, "Nope not plump enough to fill a tree." It was odd, why had the tree eatin the 'Kiin, but then spit him out with more markings?
As she circled him for the fourth time she tripped. "Ooof!" Noel sounded as she tumbled over the purple Kinri.

|| *flails* I am so sorry, Cam. ||
"Not appetizing?" echoed Sunpaw, tilting his head slightly. What did Noel mean?
"Nice to meet you, Noel," said Lavender cheerfully, though she didn't look quite as happy when Noel tripped over her. She skittered several feet away from the two Flitterkiin and simply glowered at them for a bit.

Noel who was toppled over on the ground laying on her back flicked her furry tail. "Well, why else would the tree spit you back out?" She asked not really sure why he had questioned her.
She smiled at the Kinri and after watching her trot away she asked, "So... Uh, what's her problem?"
((Haha no worries Saiki. x3))

"I dunno... Maybe she woke up too early today?" said Sunpaw, looking at the Kinri with a doubtful expression on his face. "I hope she isn't always like this."
He simply stood there and blinked for a second, and then he suddenly realized what Noel was talking about. He refrained from laughing and instead said, "The Dryad doesn't eat Pykiin... I think..."
It suddenly occured to him that there was no proof that the Dryad hadn't eaten Pykiin before, and would not eat them in the future, or sucked them up, or caused them to somehow disappear. Just faith, and what if it was misplaced faith? He couldn't help but glance back at the Dryad before saying, "Well, it doesn't have any teeth..."

She giggled briskly and flipped back onto her feet. “What is she?” She asked with a sideways glance towards the bonded not wanting to turn and face the already ticked off thing.
She took his statements into consideration and then asked, “Are you sure?” Raising the side of her mask she scrunched up her mouth doubting that he was right.

"No," he said truthfully, shaking his head. "I'm not sure. But we should be brave and check it out."
He winced slightly as he said this. His voice didn't sound very brave, at least to his ears.
"I'm a Kinri!" called Lavender, overhearing Noel. She began to mutter to herself, something that sounded like, "Do they teach 'Kiin anything these days?"
"Oh, stop talking, mousebrain," mumbled Sunpaw, rolling his eyes at the Kinri.

Noel bounced to her feet, "Okay, lets go!" She smiled and patted his shoulder with her fluffy tail tuft ignoring the Kinri as she paded the long distance to the base of the Dryad.
"So erm, how did you get her to open last time?" She called out hoping he would know.

Sunpaw bounded towards the Dryad, slowing down to a more steady pace when he had caught up to Noel.
Sunpaw sat down and tilted his head back as far as he could, trying to see the top of the giant tree. "It was already open," he said, sounding slightly distracted as he lost his balance and nearly fell over.
Jumping back up to his feet, he said, "Um... Maybe... Maybe if we touch it with our paws, it'll open?"

Noel giggled at Sunpaw, "You know I don't think that will work." She stated awkwardly as she tapped her tail against the base of the great tree.
But with that tap a small rodeli scampered under her and the Dryad opened up sending her tumbling into the dark chasm.
