"Yes, yes, your wings will grow all big and strong, just as you will." She smiled softly at the kiin and continued, "Your wings are small because you are, as you grow, to be the same size as Fuyumi your wings will be strong like hers." Flapping her wings softly to create a gentle breeze in wards, Fuyumi showed the strength of her wings. "When you grow to be an adult, and grow to be the big and strong pykiin you will one day be, your wings will be like mine, able to do what you need them to do, Aerial Acrobats, and minor chores." She joked to the small kiin as she stood up and with a few mighty strokes of her wings she lifted herself softly off the ground. As she lowered herself back down she added, "But not until you are ready will you get big strong wings."
Fuyumi had been watching her mother's ease as her wings lifted her from the ground, she tried to copy her but lifted herself only slightly, losing her balance and fell softly to her butt. "Will I get to do that one day too?" She asked a little embarrassed of her failed attempt.

"Well...if you say so."
She still thought hers looked a bit on the weak side. But then once she had spent all that time growing they were bound to get big enough to do something with. Then a thought hit her and Skye frowned.
"But...do I have to use them to do chores?"
Was she really going to have to grow for all that time only to have to just use them for work? That wasnt any fun. Obviously Skye was not totally adept at picking up on jokes just yet. Rearing back, she tried to flap with them anyway. All she accomplished was falling on her behind again. Oh joy.

"My wings may be shiny and full of color, but they surely aren't as majestic as a pair of feathered wings." Blaine stated admitting that his wings were pretty much only there for show. He glanced at her and gave her a half smile, "It usually doesn't take too long, maybe within the next few weeks yours will become more like Fuyumi's."
Blaque quickly glanced at her back, she had no wings, "Da, is there a way to get feathery wings like Miss Uzuri's?" She asked looking bashfully at the ground as she flicked her twin tails together.

Fuyumi looked at her mother in the, 'well I'm not going to get big if I have to do chores'. She was not entirely sure if her mother was joking or not, but she didn't want to do chores.
"Chores are something that is a must when you grow older, it is as simple as getting food for yourself to eat. Wings will allow you to go into the big trees to look for apples, or pears or whatever might be in a tree." She defintiely didn't want to scare them with the "C" word.

"Really? You think they're majestic?"
Her voice stumbled a bit on the big word, but she pulled it off pretty well. Naturally Skye wasnt entirely sure what the word meant, but it sounded big and important. Maybe she wouldnt have to do anything brave, if her own wings were...majestic.
Being able to go way up in trees and get her own food sounded kinda fun too. Imagine being able to fly right up and pull an apple off a tree! Leaning back, she looked up at the dryad. That sure was a long way up... She'd probably wait until her wings were extra big to go that high. After a second she had another question.
"Does the tree...I mean, the dryad have fruit?"
She wondered what it tasted like if it did. Wait...if that's where she came from...would it taste like a pykiin? Yuck! Her head shook, trying to rid herself of that imagined taste. Even if it did have fruit she wasn't going to be eating any of it.

Yes there are fruit on the Dryad, but they are Gemfruit." Uzuri explained, to the kiin, who seemed very eager to learn everything about the valley. "You wouldn't and shouldn't ever eat a Gemfruit either." She made a scrunched up face as the horrible thought crossed her mind. "Never." She shook her head with a shudder of utter disgust at the thought.
Audra had since fallen asleep, gentle snores filled the air as she was still sitting stark still and only barely swaying as she teetered on the verge of falling over.
Fuyumi on the other hand was wide awake nd now sitting listening to her mother explain about the gemfruit being on the Dryad. She liked to hear about Gemfruit. "We hatch from gemfruit. "She added feeling very proud at knowing something about the gemfruit.

"Well, technically you shouldn't eat the gem fruit. With the exception of your own shell after you hatch of course, its what gives us our magic in a sense." Blaine added contributing to her knowledge of the Valley. "That is correct all Pykiin no matter what shape, size, or type, come from the Dryad, and all hatch from the Gemfruit. So, merely going and picking any old Gemfruit from the Dryad and taking a bite could get you into an unfortunate predicament." He added as he got a bit serious at his last statement.
"We wouldn't want and holes in the babies after all." Blaque added as she gave her father a half smile and curled up at his feet. She gave off a tremendous yawn and layed her head ontop of her paws. After all being a 'Kiin was hard work.

"So if you eat a gemfruit, you'd be eating...one of us?"
Her complexion visibley greened at the thoughtas she looked between Fuyu, Uzuri, and Blaine. No way was she coming near this tree when hungry that was for sure. Even just thinking about it was making her a little nauseous.
"I'll never eat off the dryad. No way."
Her feet swayed a little. This was not a good topic for young minds, or more importantly young stomachs. Rather hurridly she climbed down off Blaine. If her tummy didnt settle down she'd have to go back to her bush.

"There are much better things to eat, " Uzuri offered a little bit of insight into the pykiin Valley edible items. "There are lots of places to find fruit, so many that I am sure you will be sick of fruit within 2 days. We also have a few flowers that are edible, but make sure not to eat any of the flowers in An'ethyst when we go next." She hoped that the small kiin would ask about this new place and change the subject, "and some of the boys eat bugs....Ewwww." She made a mushy face showing her disgust.
Fuyumi looked at her mom and said plainly, "Bugs are tasty." She smiled at the fact that she was brave like a boy to eat a bug.

"You eat bugs?"
Skye was incredulous as she stared open mouthed at Fuyumi. Why would anybody want to eat a creepy crawly bug? They were...they were creepy. And slimey. And they also happened to taste bad, or at least grasshoppers did...
The subject was not helping her stomach. She thought about the rest of what Uzuri said instead. Flowers sounded good to eat. They were soft and pretty. They must taste good too. Yes, flowers sounded nice.
"How come you can't eat the ones in An'ethyst? Are they all ugly?"
That seemed a good reason not to eat them. If they were yucky looking on the outside they probably would taste bad to her insides. The only time she knew that not to be true was a mushroom. She'd ate one of them once. It hadnt tasted too bad even it was ugly.

"The Dryad wants us to bring certain things like those flowers from An'ethyst to repopulate the Valley," Sorka explained with a smile. "If you ate them, you wouldn't be able to bring them back to the Dryad." She thought about the flowers she had seen, and added, "Actually, they are rather pretty."
"There are other creatures we bring from An'ethyst, as well. They are called Rodeli, Vhimir, Remiel, and Syora." Sorka lifted her head and gazed up into the Dryad's branches. "My bonded syora Kalea is hiding up there somewhere. I'm sure she'd come down if you want to meet her." Her mouth quirked as she addressed the unseen bonded. "Wouldn't you, Kalea?"

"Ugh. . " Khairi grunted. "Bugs. My brother and sister used to eat bugs as Kiin. My brother still does. . " His face tightened. Just the thought of eating something so vile made him gag. "I've never really seen how, and I really don't want to." The large male shook his head in disgust. "Yuck." Khairi may have been a large, powerful male, but he had a large phobia of bugs and water. But that was a different story. . . .
"Yes, flowers are nice to eat, as are fruits. It's a lot easier to grow those, because when you are finished you can plant the seed of the fruit and of flower so you'll always have more. Although it will take a while for the seeds to grow." Now that they were off the topic of eating bugs, his stomach wasn't churning. "I personally like mango. It's very nice and sweet. I never got to eat that much as a child, as my brother and sister would devour it before I got to even glance at it." He sighed, reminiscing about his childhood.
He let out a small chuckle. "The flowers from An'ethyst are strictly for breeding purposes. I don't really know what would happen if you ate them . .I wouldn't want to try." He told Skye. He then bent down to her level and tickled her nose with one of his decorative tails. "And if you eat an orange one you might grow three heads." He teased

Sorka gave a soft snort at Khairi's last comment. "I'm sure the Dryad wouldn't do that to anyone, even if they did eat her flowers. At least, not unless you really wanted to, and then I think you might need several vhimir rather than a flower." She smiled and raised her mask at Khairi. "As you said, they are for breeding only."
"As for my favorite fruit," Sorka continued, her eyes sparkling, "I'm rather fond of bananas. Most kinds of fruit are good, though, and I'm not picky." She recalled a particular desert she'd had once, and sighed dreamily. "Banana milkshakes, now there's a drink I absolutely adore. Creamy and smooth and cool."

"Well if I were the Dryad I would. That Pykiin or creature that ate said flower should learn a lesson from it." Khairi nodded firmly. Khairi believed in tough love, and strict discipline. Without the two everyone would be running around like they were Kohana. She was enough for him. "Hmm, true. I guess you would have to eat a Vhimir. . But ew. . Who would eat a Vhimir?" a small chuckle escape a pair of small brown lips. Quickly Khairi recovered by giving off a cold, stoney look, directed at no one in particular.
"Bananas are ok, I guess." His brown head bobbed side to side. "I'm not crazy about them, but I'd eat them if I had to. "A banana milkshake? Hm. I've never heard of that." He wondered what would be in one, or how you would make one. . . "I bet a mango milkshake would be good, too. . " A dreamy expression overcame the cold one that had recently been on his face. "Just out of curiosity, for the kiin," he lied, "How do you make one?"

"No, no, not eat the vhimir!" Sorka stared up at him in astonishment, eyes wide but sparkling. "I meant as the kind of changes that the Dryad gives you when you bring back a vhimir. But it would be such a huge change, it would take several vhimir, and maybe a remiel too, since it would be a mutation, not just a marking." She shuddered. "Who would want that anyway..."
"Raenia showed us how to make them, but she wouldn't let us do it ourselves," Sorka explained. "You freeze two bananas, it's best if you use ones that are almost overripe. You put them in something called a 'blender' with milk, and sugar if the bananas were't ripe enough. And voila! Milkshake. You can use ice cream too, I think." Sorka, who had not missed the brief expression that crossed his face, added slyly, "I'm sure Raenia would let me make you one if you wanted."
