I am very sad at this moment becasue of the loss that could hit our family.
I love my step dad very much. He is a wonderful man and makes my mom very happy, he also treats my daughter very well. In my family when you marry in you also bring your family in. So not only did I gain a step dad but I gained a step gramma and a step grampa.
As I no longer have any grandpa's alive I grew quite fond of Mel (I am an adult and we see this as a time for me to call him by his first name). He is nice and sweet and cares greatly for us as well as we do for him. Well he is 85 and his health is very much failing.
He has had a pace maker put in not too long ago and has not dealt well with that recovery, now we find ot he has Pneumonia, and a leaky heart valve. They can't go in and fix the valve becasue of his age and health.
So needless to say the entire family is sad, depressed and stressed beyond belief. We understand that there is a large chance that he won't live through the year, and we are coming to terms with it slowly.
I just had to share with someone, as I am not quite ready to lose another grampa. There is a chance though that in the near future I will be leaving to go to a funeral.
Ok I think I am done thanks for listening ~PonyMama

It's okay, I am about to loose my grandpa as well. It must be depressing for you! *gives cookie* my Grandfather has ALS, so I have to spend as much time with him as possible, As long as you have great memorys of each other there is no need to worry, thats what a Council woman told me...

*hugs* I lost my second grandfather just a year ago and it felt horrible, so I know how you feel. I'll be praying for him and for your family as you go through this struggle.

thank you both. Yes I am a firm believer that the good memeories are a wonderful way to keep the person with you in a way. I have lost many of my family memebers and I think of them all often. I remember stupid things that seem so dumb, but they were great memories, so that is what I hold onto.

*Hugs* Aw, PM, I'm sorry I'll be keeping you and your intire family in my prayers. I'm aware that I may loose my great grandma soon as she has similar problems that Mel has. I might not see her ever again, as she lives down in the lower 48, and I haven't actually seen her in 10 years.
None the less, I will remember to ask for a pitition during my Church service today.

I'll keep you all in my prayers
I am lucky I still have two grandads my mom's dad and her step dad. My daddy's dad passed several years ago.
We got word this past weekend that my Mom's step dad (the one who raised her) has some medical issues rearing up.

Oh, Ponymama, that's hard on a family. I never new either of my grandparents, since one died before I was born, and the other when I was only a year old, but my Grandma had a boyfriend that was like a grandpa to us, and it was very hard when he died. Now my only grandparent is the other Dad's mom, but she's starting to have some serious health problems too. We'll all be thinking of you, and I hope your family recovers reasonably quickly.

Update for everyone:
My Step Grampa is probably in the hospital for the rest of his life, he is really sick. They won't release him, but are trying to be hopeful. He is scared, and worried about his wife. My mom and Step Dad have to go secure and tranfer assets, to make sure Elly is safe and has all her stuff if Mel goes.
His wife, My step Gramma, is now so sick she has been on Hospital IV treatments for a week and had surgery this morning for an infection. She si just worried and has been so involved in trying to get Mel better she neglected herself. We hope she will get better.
We are all scared we are going to lose them both.
