Well we have had 37-40 degree weather here for days (that is about 100-103 degrees for you guys) and dry. Well we had a starm come through, lots of rain with a lot of thunder and lightning.
I guess that seems alright, except for the fact that dry land and lightning make fire.
Well the storm has passed and the lovely smell of wet grass and fire fill the air.
I guess I need to pack all my pictures adn unreplacables just in case.

Oh, wow fire season is usually pretty bad up here, but this year we don't seem to have a problem. The funny thing is its so dry up here, fires just seem to pop out of everywhere. I'm not too sure if there is a need to pack everything up, but it also depend on how far away from the fire you are. But just incase it would propbably prove to be a smart move.

I live very close to the fire areas. Either the hill across the highway (which is pretty much in my backyard) or the hill on the other side of the neighborhood. This community evacuates if they feel the fires are out of control, sine a few years ago the fires were really bad.
We actually have warnings on the news saying we shoudl have everything ready to go just in case.

Eek, scary!! Keep an eye on the local news so you have advance warning!
It's really wet in Maine, so we don't have fires usually. >_> I hope you're okay!!

I am more or less worried about the dry hills around here. as all the pine trees are dead due t the pine beetle killing all the tree, they catch fire easily.
My husband even phoned from work to make sure we were ok. I am sure like the last 2 years, packing the boxes and leaving them packed will just keep our minds at ease. I believe in wishful thinking.

Yeah, we get those often too.
We're actually pretty close to where the fires usually take place, though our fire department is actually pretty good at keeping the fire undercontroll.
Fires aren't fun at all, I have asthma(sp?) so during fire seaon, I feel like my lunges are going to explode and sports are hard for me during that time frame.
I hope everyhting is okay though. ^^

Oh, dear, this is not good at all. Yes, I suggest packing away all of your pictures and unreplacables.
I hope everything goes well! I really can't empathize, seeing we've had a very rainy last couple of weeks...

I hope everything will be okay over there, PM. We haven't had many big fires lately, there was one during the past week but it wasn't near my side of town and it was controlled quickly. I've been listening to the news, though, and there are big blazes in other parts of the US, apparently. Someone even tried to go back into their house to retrieve personal items and didn't make it back out.
You know, I like watching the news at six in the morning when there's nothing good on TV, but there's only one station that isn't horridly depressing and serious all the time. I like that, FOX takes a lighter tone and it doesn't make me want to turn of the television out of fear for the human race.

They only worry about fires here becasue a few years ago it took over 2 months to contain the forest fires. SO now every year we box up what measn the most to us.
This time I think we are good, but that is becasue everything is packed now.
