I need to rant!
First of all, this Friday I'm getting on a bus that starts in Maine and ends (27 hours later!!) in Indiana! That's right, 27 hours by bus. Uggggh. But the bus ticket was $150 less than the plane ticket, so I opted to go by bus instead of plane... I'm a poor person!
Now the exciting thing is that I'm going to Indianna to stay with my friend for a week, and then next weekend we're going to Acen!!! Sinsoo and Panda might now what that is, it's the biggest anime convention in the mid-west and one of the 4 biggest in the USA! I'm very excited, but stressed from being away from home for so long.
I have a pet cat and my parents don't want to take care of him like they usually do when I go on vacation, because they have a kitten who is being a handful. I was freaking out about what to do about him, but finally my co-worker offered to come to my house and feed him once a day, so thankfully he gets to stay home. He's very attached to me though, and I know he's going to be depressed without me here.
However, there's something wrong with his mouth, he jerks away from me if he rubs against my leg, so I had to call last week to make a vet appointment and the only opening they had was this Friday (tomorrow) which is the day I get on the bus! So I'm going to run to the vets, run him home, then drive to my parents house so they can hold onto my car for the week and take me to the bus station.
It gets even worse! I'm getting new roommates soon, college students. I'm excited because they're really nice and they're going to help pay my rent. But I forgot next week is finals week, and they are getting kicked out of their dorms that week....which is the week I'm going to be in Indianna! So they have to move into my house while I'm not here, and Kohaku (my kitty) will have to get used to them without me here to comfort him. I'm very worried about that. I'm afraid he'll accidentally get outside while they're moving in boxes or something.
Plus work has been super-hectic because I'll be gone next week so I had to wrap up all my big projects, plus this is the week our student interns stop coming in (because next week is finals). So work has been hectic all week!
Finally the last straw in the hat. Acen had the option of mailing out their badges to us instead of us picking them up. I thought it was an awesome deal so when I registered in March, I asked to have it mailed to me. Well, I wasn't told they weren't mailing them out until April 14th! They got mailed by bulk mail, which is super slow. So of course my badge hasn't gotten here in time and I have to leave tomorrow! GAH! Not only that, they were going to charge us $25 to replace the 'lost' badges that didn't get through the mail in time. How fair is that!? Well thankfully there was such a negative backlash on the Acen forums that they changed the $25 to only $5 (which I can get refunded if I mail my badge back after the con), but I've still been worrying all week about paying the extra $25, and anxiously checking my mailbox every day.... it was so hectic!
So yeah, now it's all boiling down. Tomorrow I get on a bus for 27 hours, with or without my badge. (I'm not too upset about paying the extra $5 though.) Before I leave I have to clean my whole house for the roommates to move in, plus pack all my stuff, then get Kohaku to the vet tomorrow!
Sigh. I am so overworked this week. I'm so glad it's almost over.
