((OOC: Whoo, Syren in the Valley! XD ))
The waterfall was a constant hum in the background, quickly growing louder, as Jaeilin swam up toward the surface. She couldn't help but glance behind her, as her home Lysana dwindled in the distance, and felt a pang of nerves. She didn't know anyone--other than Mist--who had left their underwater world behind. What would she find here?
Jaeilin flared her fins and pushed onward determinedly. Mist had said that beyond the waterfall was the secrets of having offspring, and of the two ever-babies growing to adults. She hadn't explained more than that, but Jaeilin was determined to find out for herself.
The falls roared in her ears now, and Jaeilin squinted her eyes shut to protect them as she burst past the falls and out into the open air. For one brief moment she hung suspended in the air, feeling the cool light substance fill her lungs very unlike the way that water did. Then all of a sudden a force grabbed her and dragged her down, and with a splash she fell into the small pool at the base of the waterfall.
Jaeilin bobbed up like a cork a moment later, breaking the surface of the pool. Her long blue and yellow mane flowed out behind her in the water as she padded to the rocks lining the shore. Slowly she pulled herself out onto the rocks and there she rested, half in and half out of the water, fascinated with the taste and smell of air.
"So this is the secret beyond the falls," she murmured to herself, looking at the blueblue sky and the green grass that waved in the wind.
