We (my mom, dad, brother and I) saw my Oma today for breakfast.
When my Oma was younger, she was already starting to show that she would have a lot of problems when she got older. She grew up during WWII, so I suppose that that was sort of understandable, since they didn't have the cures, and she lived in Germany, which wasn't the "happening place" at the time, of course.
Well, since my Opa died, she started to get even worse. The doctors finally were able to diagnose most of her problems, but no one knew what do to about them. They put her on all kinds of pain killers and medication. Well, recently they decided that they'd start killing nerves, and that would at least take away the pain.
When things started to get worse, I started hoping and praying and wishing with everything I knew possible for her to get better. Every wish that I had, from my birthday cakes to wishing fountains, and every time that I prayed I thought of her.
And now it looks like she's finally getting better, instead of the usual downward slope. I'm just so happy. My Oma was suffering from horrible depression, and this morning she seems happy again, like she did before my Opa died. I was about to cry. She was walking again, and she wasn't asking us to slow down for her (not that I mind, but it shows that she's able to walk without much pain anymore). In one sense, it was like I met a totally new person. I almost didn't know what to say when she said something to me, since I've known her to be so downy for the last four years.
But I'm just so happy. She's like she used to be. :')

I'm so glad that she's returned to her old ways I can empathize with you, but I'd rather not talk about that. *huggles*

That's really wonderful, I can't imagine what it must be like to see her without pain again. My grandmother declined steadily for a long time, so I understand what you must have been going through.
