I have been getting asked this question by people in RL a lot lately, and I have no idea how to answer. And for those of you who don't know. Emo, Scene, and Goth are all very well known cliques in Middle and High School. If you google them you'll get a lot of pictures ;3 ((Photobucket has a place on their home page for Scene pictures right now))
So seriously, to you guys whats the difference between these three? I can name a couple, but not a lot. x3 ((Fail))

Well I know one thing, Emo means Emotional.
A goth hurts themselves for no reason what so ever.
I have never heard about a scene though...

I don't really think self-mutilation should be talked about on this board. Please edit your post, Merrit.
Also, that's a very harsh generalization to make. I have several good friends who get labeled as "Emo" or "Goth" because of their choice in clothing and fashion, but I know they don't have self-destructive tendancies. In some cases, the labels can just be used to describe a type of fashion. I don't know what all the differences are, but I know that emos are associated with tight pants and "emo bangs", while goths are usually associated with the color black, especially as far as black makeup.

A look at the definitions may help a bit
Gothic or Goth: medieval: as if belonging to the Middle Ages; old-fashioned and unenlightened; "a medieval attitude toward dating" :, Or characterized by gloom and mystery and the grotesque; "gothic novels like `Frankenstein'"
So dark and Mysterious would be the best way to describe this.
Emo: is a style of hardcore punk which describes several variations of music with common roots
Generally people use this word to describe someone who is emotional. However emotions are a good thing, they tell us when you are happy, sad or angry. It is most commonly used to describe someone who is Melodramatic, sad, depressed, and feeling isolated. It is a hurtful way to make someone who may be having a bad day feel even worse.
Now a scene is from a movie or play and from what I can tell when being called Scene it means: Wanting to be watched and envied, and empathized with, finding ways to seek attention and validation
So they are attention grabbers, they could be the jocks that have to say things to be the center of attention, they could be the comedians who want the laugh, it could be anyone who wants the focus on them.
I hope that helps a little more.
