My Mom has had a nasty toothache for the past several days. She went in to the dentist and he told her she needs a root canal. Mom hates the dentist and has a very sensitive mouth. So, she's absolutely terrified of having a root canal. To make matters worse, her mother had a horrible experience with a root canal that just took the life out of her. I'd really appreciate all of your good wishes and thoughts as my family tries to get Mom through this.

Awww! That sounds scary! I had never gone to the dentist in my entire life but I went for the first time right before graduating college (since I was about to be kicked off my parents' health insurance). Turns out I needed a root canal for my lower-left jaw and 10 cavities filled in the rest of my jaw. 0_o Took 4 dentist visits, after the initial visit for xrays. Each time we worked on a different side of my mouth. It wasn't really that fun, but it wasn't that bad either! Hug your mom for me and tell her not to worry! ^_^ I was a little numb for a day after the root canal, but that was it! No pain afterward at all, though the dentist advised me to take aspirin if it got sore after the novicaine wore off. I think your mom will be just fine if she remains calm and tries not to get too worked up about it. Here's hoping for quick and easy dental work!
