"Pressure, I know pressure. Although I know by now that Fire under pressure becomes very dangerous, yet, here I am and no explosion yet." Nuri said with a whisper. "My mom wants to prance em around as the newest Fire element, and I am not even old enough to try for a power yet." Nuri had thought just a little bit about not taking an element at all, and staying clear of Soul mates and Bondeds, so she never had to deal with the decision at all.
She shook her head slowly, as if trying to rid her head of silly thoughts, "I am sure all our parents want us to follow in their footsteps." Although she had met Audra and Fuyumi and they didn't seem pressured into being a air or water element. Their parents seemed fine with whatever path they chose.

"Mama doesn't want to pressure me," Marai murmered, half to herself. "SHe can't help it. I mean, she'd be so proud if I followed her element. Daddy would be just as proud no matter what I did, but Mama would be so happy if I was Earth." Her voice trailed off. "I don't even think she knows how hard she's making it."
Marai followed Nuri's lead, shaking her whole body. "Such gloomy thoughts. I'm sure we have better things to think about on this lovely night. Why don't we go climb a tree, or go stare at the moon reflecting off the pond?"

"Sure, I like the pond. I don't get to come and sit near it very much. My mom Hates the water, always has I guess." Nuri was happy to have shared a few of her thoughts, and to have them shared right back. She was not alone, and she now realized that.
"so what do you look at in the water?" She asked, showing that she was indeed unfamiliar with anything revolving around the water. She was hoping that she did not look like a dork to what she now saw as a new friend.

Elijah listened intently to the girls’ conversation. He wished to mention his family, and the elements that he had observed since practically birth, but he neglected the idea and instead mentioned, “A pounce mate of mine has the power of water, he says it’s calm and serene. He says there are numerous fish that inhabit the pond, but he tends to leave them be.”
Elijah then asked, “How far have either of you traveled outside the Valley?” Truthfully Eli hadn’t been too far, with out supervision, and most of the time his mother was searching for something that would help her train. She was constantly rummaging through the forest helping flowers and trees grow. Like Marai’s mother his wished to see him become an Earth elemental, but Elijah just wasn’t sure. Yes, he had the flower marking, and it would only make sense he would follow his mother, but he had a fascination for Fire that he couldn’t explain.

Nuri thought about how far she had actually ventured outside the Valley, she wasn't exactly sure but she knew it was pretty far, "Well my Mom and I have gone flying a few times, well actually she flies and I ride, So I am not too sure to be exact how far I have been. I do however know that we have flown for half a day without turning around, Stopping for something to eat and drink then turn around and come back." She explained about a few trips with her mother, that were pretty much the same. Just some mother and Daughter time.
She then remembered about the water, "Calm and Serene huh? That seems neat. I would love to see how it works a bit more." She then spoke of Uzuri who she had met, "Well a pounce mate of mine has the Water element, although there is something wrong with it, it always goes frosty and freezes." She remembered Uzuri trying desperately trying, just to get frustrated and have to stop.

Eli noted the story, “I think the farthest I’ve actually been without my mother, was just outside of the forest, at the edge of the cliff.” He remembered the way the ocean breeze felt and the salty smell of the water below. “Other than that Mum wants me to stay inside unless I go with Falo.”
Even though Faloreth was Elijah’s father, he hardly mentioned him as Dad, or Papa. He and his sister had been on countless trips outside, but they hadn’t ever set foot on the ground below. Like Nuri’s story they would spend countless hours in the air, soaring above everything and anything. “Faloreth enjoys the air, so when Niseka and I do travel with him, we mostly stay in the air, and we’ve never been out of the Valley for more than a day at a time.”
Eli smiled, “I’ve seen Chase meddle with water a bit, and actually from to looks of it, it just seems so flowing, you know?” He asked hoping she would somehow catch his drift, though he knew that she hadn’t really had prior knowledge of the element. “Chase can freeze water, but he has to go through several steps. I’ve seen him do it once or twice, but he likes to take his time and perfect it. I truly find it amazing how he can spend so much time on one little thing.” Eli didn’t actually find it amazing, he understood that if one mistake was made before he moved on to each level something would go wrong in the long run, but he wanted it to seem like he was baffled at such an idea.
“I guess if she’s not meaning to freeze the water, it could become hard to train, but maybe there’s another reason for it. Maybe the Dryad has something in store for her.” Elijah looked up at the branched of the huge tree they sat not too far from.

"Water always sounds so elegant, although my mom would blow a gasket if I even mentioned that." Nuri was telling the truth, even watching Uzuri with the freezing instead of droplets like she hoped. "I would love to see control like you say Chase has, Uzuri says her brother Is pretty good at water, and can now make walls of water turn to ice. He has made mazes for Audra and Fuyumi to play in, although mom won;t let me play, as the walls might melt and I might get hurt." She rolled her eyes wishing her mom would just let her play.
"My mom prefers the land, but will show me the land in vast amounts while we fly." She did like to fly with her mom, and see how much Forest and land there actually was. She also enjoyed the little picnic's she had with her.

"I haven't really been outside the Valley," Marai admitted, looking down and blushing a little. "Mama stays home most of the time, and she doesn't want me exploring too far on my own." She was embarressed that she'd never seen the places her new friends had, and she probably wouldn't be able to for some time.
"I like to watch the patterns of light reflecting on the water. It's so soothing." Marai thought of the few times she'd been able to be alone and just stare into the pond and think of nothing. "At night, the moon and stars reflect, and the ripples make them seem to move. During the day, each ripple reflects the sun, and it looks like ridged glass." Marai sighed and relaxed, remembering.
"None of my pouncemates have power over water. One is an air elemental like my Daddy, and Mama's Earth, of course. But that's all." Marai dreamed of meeting a fire or water elemental, and watching them with their element, and talking to them about its joys. She was convinced that every element had its high points, you just had to look for them. THat was why she was worried about choosing an element: they all seemed so nice, how could she pick one over the others?

Elijah smiled at the thought of the air element, “A few of my pounce mates are ‘destined’ for air. Blair is wishing to get her power soon, she tends to sit at the top of the Dryad and listen intently to the wind.” Eli looked up, but could hardly see the top of the Dryad, “I’m not sure if she’s up there, but she tends linger nearby.”
He then turned slightly to Nuri, “Momma is an Earth elemental so she loves the vast land areas. She gets terrified when both Nieska and I fly with Faloreth, but she tends to over react. It’s not that she doesn’t trust him, just her past. I guess.” Elijah sounded confused as he tried to explain his mother. He hadn’t known too much about his mother’s past, no one did, all he knew was that something dire must have happened to make her such a worry wart.
Elijah glanced up toward the top of the Dryad, but couldn’t see through the thick branches. The gentle breeze rustled the leaves and caused a few from a distant tree to fall off and flitter in front of him. As they landed on the ground in front of him, he noticed that they were different from all the others, instead of them being some shade of green, they were an deep orangie-yellow color. He looked at them puzzled, and slightly tilted his head to one side, “These are different.”
Eli had heard of the trees changing colors, but why so soon? He was after all a newly born ‘Kiin.

"One of my pouncemates is going to become a water elemental, but she hasn't even grown up yet." Tamarai tilted her head, thinking about the other members of her pounce. "Another will probably be fire; he's closer to it, only needs a bonded, and his soulmating isn't official yet." She righted her head and shrugged. "I can't guess about the rest."
Marai's eyes followed Elijah's to settle on the leaves. "I agree. Isn't it a bit early for changing leaves?" She thought she remembered hearing something about leaves changing color in the fall, but was it really fall yet? "Then again, how would I know?" she asked rhetorically, in answer to her own doubts.

Nuri thought about everything that was said, and couldn't; help but wonder how some pykiin chose their power before they had to. How did they know what element would suit them best? She was very confused and didn't want to think about it quite yet. I am much too young to decide which Element would best suit me. She told herself.
She looked at the leaf in front of her, along with he others. "Fall is a natural time, and I welcome it with open arms, because Uzuri told me about Snow, and it seems really fun." She thought about the ice that Uzuri was controlling, it looked fun, solid water that you could play with.

"It'll be an interesting change," Marai agreed. "I can't wait to find out what the other seasons are like." She grinned, and added, "But then, I've barely gotten used to summer, and it's leaving already."
She regarded the orangey leaves closely. Change wasn't something she'd seen much in her short life. No change of seasons, no pykiin growing up, no new pykiin joining them. It seemed like change was especially absent in her mother's realm. Home always felt the same, there was never anything different to look at or think about. That was part of why Marai sought reasons to leave the den more and more often. Where Seri found habit and sameness comforting, Marai found it stifling. She wanted something new to happen to her, something unexpected.

Elijah nodded in agreement, it would be nice to see change, he imagined what the Valley would look like all covered over with snow. He pictured frost bitten trees that bore no leaves, and a thick powder that covered the vast area of the fields. He could see the river and lake iced over, indeed this would be an ideal time for the water elementals to get some extra training in.
He hadn’t had much to add to the fact that things were changing other than the fact that he shared something alike with his father, he can’t stand the cold. Eli never understood why, it was something that just freaked him out, he could imagine himself freezing to death, and the fact that things cooled off was horrific to him. “I don’t like the cold much, how cold do you suppose it gets here?”
Elijah rubbed his ear to itch it as he asked. He knew they wouldn’t really have a straight answer for him, but he had to see if their parents had even mentioned anything about it. His parents had never even acknowledged winter, maybe it was because of the fact neither of them had been through a winter, but he would never truthfully know.

"I couldn't say," Marai answered, " but even if you can't find a pykiin who has been through a winter here, you might be able to get an idea from someone who lives or spends time in the mountains. I've heard it's colder up there."
Tamarai tried to think about snow and ice, and found she couldn't even imagine what it would be like. "I don't think I've ever seen ice," she admitted. "I haven't met a water elemental to show it to me. What is it like?"
