Where do Pykiin come from? Not in a sense of, "well, two parents Pykiin enter the Dryad and the Dryad takes a bit of their magic, etc., etc." but more in the sense of "where do certain seemingly parent-less Pykiin come from?".
Like Tinaeus, Terralyi, and PonyMama's Aislin. Did they ever have parents? Or did the Dryad just create them using her own magic, so they don't have parents?
Random thought: During the flood, if the Pykiin sheltered in the Dryad (I thought they did, but I don't think the story specified) is it possible that the Dryad saved magic from each of the "ancient" Pykiin and, now that the valley is safe and inhabitable, created gemfruits using this magic so (for example) these Pykiin have long dead parents?
Or will it forever be a mystery? *spooky music*

Good speculations, Saiki. -gives cookie- Yes, the Dryad did save a few of the 'ancient' pykiin, and yes she can create her own kiin 'from scratch', though we have very little understanding of which ones are which. The First Four were Ancients, but that's as far as the Dryad has confirmed. Though the Ancient pykiin will not recall their past lives or true family members, they can connect with other pykiin and form very close family bonds with their comrades, whether they were true relatives in their past lives or not. For example, Skittles and Nightwish consider each other to be sisters, even though their colorations are radically different and we aren't sure if any of the Flitterkiin, Kitsune, or Elven were Ancients at one time.

It's exciting when people start untangling peices of the puzzle. I leave little hints here and there... though the plotline is pretty deep and most of it is stored away inside my brain, I'm suprised that someone got that close to my original storyline

Good to know. I take it all the acknowledged ancients will be major plot characters?

For the time being, the fact that a pykiin is or isn't an ancient is not relevant. If I decide to incorporate ancients as a roleplay element, then no, not all the acknowleged ancients will be major plot characters, but ancients will be fairly rare.
