First off, has anyone heard of/played the Myst games before?
When I was little, only about 7 or 8 (possibly even younger) we had the original Myst, and it was an amazing game. I never understood any of the gameplay, but I liked just exploring the environments and the world it was set in. Beautiful game.
Well, we lost the original game a -long- time ago, and all that's left is the jewel case.
Along comes this wonderful person, and recently I've found that he loves the concept of the Myst games/books, too. It didn't really surprise me, since they match his character and interests so perfectly, but I was estatic at the mention of my favorite childhood game. I didn't even realise that there was a series of books -and- numerous sequels to the game.
Now, I'd love to re-discover the game, and I've been scouring the internet for a half-hour looking for it. I'm intrigued by all of the sequels from Exile to Uru, but I'd really like to know the backstory first. I can't find downloads or ways to purchase the original Myst or Riven, other than through Ebay. I'm not going to even bother with that. If I do manage to find it, I highly doubt that it will be anywhere over $10.
So, a place for general discussion of Myst games/books past and present. If anyone spots a way to download Myst or Riven, you get my jazz hands dance, as well as perhaps a matching bonded for your pykiin. -insert bribery grin here-
Edit - whoa, so there are two separate official Myst sites? This is confusing... but good... -dances in seat-
