Take a look at this: We don't even have fifty members, so how is it that we have that many guests? I know that it's always possible that a lot of people are looking at the Valley, but what are the chances of that many guests looking at once? And now when I looked, there is a record number or ninety-eight. Does anyone know what is going on? Or is it perhaps just a bug in the system?

I thought that was funny too. I don't know what's going on.

I noticed that yesterday was a new total of members online. It was 65 but we only have 49 members. Its really odd.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I was sitting there going "What in the world? 68?!?!" I didn't see it go to 98 though, but still.

They could have been some sort of bots or site crawlers (the things that search engines like MSN or Google send out to scan your site and find keywords and such).
Because 98 seems much too high to be real...

Good point, Farnley. Once I had a few windows open and I appeared twice on the online list.

Those are spambots. They infiltrate most forums, especially freeware ones like proboards. They won't hurt your computer, I'm pretty sure, mostly they just hang around in the background of the forum and record all the words we type. So, for example, if we start posting harry potter a million times they get a sense of how many people out there are interested in harry potter. It's a marketing tool. An evil one. >_<

Wow, that's really interesting. I don't think they can market Pykiin, however. So I don't think they can get a lot of advertising material here.

LOL. Yeah. But even Proboards itself uses this marketing technique, if you look at the top of the board, you see those ads under the top banner? Well they change according to the words we type here. I just saw one that was an ad for a company called "Lupine leash and dog accessories", since we've been using the word Lupine so much last night. XD

*snicker snicker* There is an add for the word 'Are you a warcraft loser?". I don't think we've ever used the word war....

Haha. No, but we use the phrase 'rp' and 'roleplay' a lot, and WoW is a popular RPG game. Crafty, aren't they? Edit: Geez, my computer just had a major freak-out and this message posted three times. 0_o
