I thought we needed something to talk about while the Dryad is busy mixing Pykiin genes together! Hee hee. NO spoilers in here, please, be careful what you post, in case people haven't read the 7th book! So, what would your patronus be?Mine would be an ospery! ^_^ Although dragons are closer to my heart, and unicorns were close to my childhood heart, I think most patroni are non-magical creatures, so I tried to think of the most important non-magical animal in my life. An ospery is a small but fierce bird of prey with beautiful coloring, and they're native to Maine. Birds have always captivated me. I used to raise them (though not as much as Chelle does! hee hee). And being an air-elemental, flying is something I'm obsessed with too. I knew my patroni would be a bird, but I probably would have chosen a parrot-type except I think I would want my patroni to be fierce looking to give me confidence, so I wanted a bird of prey. >:3 www.birdsofprey.blm.gov/img/Osprey-NASA.jpg

*gets #17 dictionary*
Patronus- The Patronus Charm conjures an incarnation of the caster's innermost positive feelings, such as joy, hope, or the desire to survive, known as a Patronus. A Patronus can be viewed as the exact opposite of a Dementor. Even though it embodies all the positive emotions that a Dementor feeds on, a Patronus is conjured as a protector, and is a weapon rather than a feast: Patronuses shield their conjurors from Dementors, and even drive them away. A Patronus "cannot feel despair, as real humans can, so Dementors can't hurt it. The conjured Patronus protects the witch or wizard that summoned it, obeys his or her commands, and fades away shortly after it is no longer required.
When conjured, a Patronus appears silvery, ethereal, and semi-transparent. Improperly formed Patronuses range from momentary formless bursts of silvery mist, to poorly-defined forms which are easily defeated or quickly dissipate on their own. A full-fledged (or corporeal) Patronus takes on a solid (if somewhat ethereal) fixed animal form that is of great significance to the witch or wizard casting the charm, as it reflects their personality/character. Finally, Patronuses summoned by a particular person have been known to change due to life-altering events, such as personal tragedy or falling in love, as expressed by Nymphadora Tonks when she fell in love with Remus Lupin, although it is insinuated that is it Remus Lupin's rejection of Tonks that causes her patronus to change form, not the love. This seems to be made clear by the fact that her patronus does not change form until Tonks herself seems to be ill or depressed at the beginning of the 6th book. Severus Snape is the first one to point this out when he meets Tonks and Harry at the gates of Hogwarts early in the 6th book.
The film and book versions of the Patronus have marked differences: in the books, successful charms always yield corporeal animals, which must then attack the Dementors by charging them. In the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry's non-corporeal Patronus is more like a shield, and his corporeal Patronus sends out pulses of light to drive Dementors away. (The movie also places no significance on the corporeal Patronus' form.) However, in the fifth movie, when Harry teaches the Patronus Charm to Dumbledore's Army, most of the patronuses are now corporeal animals that move realistically (although they all appear to be capable of flight; Hermione Granger's Patronus, an otter, appears to "swim" through air) and charge down dementors and appear to physically attack their targets.
O.o Oh gawd I've never been so confused.....

Mine would be a siamese cat. I am very loyal and hot tempered just like a siamese. I also view the siamese as a cat that provides much comfort. They prefer to be alone and rule the house.
Yep my patronus would be a siamese.

Finally figured it out! I'm a Belgian Tervuren! I've always loved cats, and there my favorite animal in the world. but everyone says when they meet me they remind them of a dog.
Belgian Tervurens are exceedingly loyal and deeply devoted. They thrive on human companionship and need to be an integral part of the family. They must be given loving attention for if they are ignored they will become destructive. The Belgian Tervuren has strong protective and territorial instincts, and is watchful, serious, and smart. They may also be sensitive and shy.
Another reason I chose this breed is because they have long fur, and unique patterns. I love warmness :3 it makes me all nice, and fuzzy. Another reason is they look unique, I am very unique, like my friends say
definition of sinsoo unique. Definition of unique code for weird....

Bwa haha.... A couple of my real world friends may not agree with this, but I'm a bat. My protronus would be a bat. Bats are fairly social. They come into groups of people, then disappear quickly. They are active at night, and sleep during the day. (I stay up till 4am most nights, then sleep till 12:30pm. : And there are some other charactoristics that relate to me as well, I just have to type them up.

Mine would definitely be of the bird family, as I'm fascinated with birds, and definitely a little flighty. I would have to choose the Northern Harrier, which is local to my area. I can remember being in school and watching a family group grow up in a tree in my front yard. Since we planted all the pine trees in my back yard (a little over 70 acres) they have moved further into the trees, but I still see them flying around at times www.mbr-pwrc.usgs.gov/id/framlst/i3310id.html

I'm going to go with Ocelot. The largest of the Leopardus family, Ocelots are generally solitary. Very territorial, they fight fiercly in disputes. Nonetheless, they are still willing to share a resting spot with another. Ocelots have keen vision, especially at night. And they are just gorgeous.

Hmn, this is a tough call because I love all animals. There are many that represent parts of myself and that I would chose because of their beauty and symbolism but when I read the description of what a patronus is, I think my patronus must be a Tapir. XD
