Even though I hate to say it, you actually use math in every occupation you could think. PI even makes me do math sometimes (Especailly Pykiin  ) Horseback riding, animating, acting, basically everything. |

Calculus is very useful to any kind of scientist or engineer. If you are planning on being an English major, I wouldn't worry too much about it. As far as the big words go, I didn't know what they meant when I started the course, so I'm not surprised you don't know them. Again, I wouldn't worry.
