Child's Play

Rays of golden sunlight glistened through the many layers of emerald leaves down into Seth, Cale, and Cassie's den. Suddenly all three woke together. It was nearly the end of spring and the beginning of summer and though Mothernature's hand had yet to change the seasons, there was a certain excitement in the Valley.

The trio were gone before their parents had even woken. They escaped out into the forest as the sun warmed their purple fur. Cassie smiled flitting from one flower to another, like a bee, smelling each's radient and unique scent.

Cale had already flowen to nearly the highest branch in a huge tree and was watching the still sleepy Valley hoping that soon it's inhabitants might wake and he would have more company rather then having to spend the whole day with his siblings.

Seth was picking fruit from a bush and eating his breakfast while watching his delighted sister from a distance.

When Cassie had had her fill of flowers she flopped down into a large patch of grass satisfied.


"We'll never see any other pykiin unless we move towards the Dryad."complained Cale from above.
Seth and Cassie looked up,but made no effort to move.
"Fine." and he flew down to the ground and took off by himself.
Cassie took off to follow Cale leaving Seth behind. Finally he sighed and followed the two.

It was a while before they reached the Dryad, but when they did it was empty. Seth sighed irritated. "No one is here Cale and you made me walk all this way!"
"It's early. I'm sure someone will come..." Cale responded.
"How about we play a game while we wait?"Cassie asked. Before waiting for a response she tagged Seth and dashed away. Cale smiled and ran away from his brother too, closley followed by Seth trying to tag him.

Emily and Chris wandered away from their den. How? Noone could know but the two of them. They thought it a good day to visit the Dryad maybe they would see someone the Valley seemed rather empty lately and they wanted to see if maybe they'd see someone.

"I wonder if we'll see anyone." Chris said to Emily.
"I don't know we'll see when we get there won't we." Emily smiled at him.
They walked until they arrived at the Dryad. When they got there they noticed three Pykiin running away from each other. Chris looked at Emily and Emily shrugged.
"Hello!" She shouted hoping to get they're attention.

Seth had moved on to chasing after Cassie rather then Cale, who was to fast and tiring to chase. Cassie had been running around the Dryad in circles when she heard a shout of hello. She stopped suddenly. Seth had not seen her stop until it was to late and he ran into her so hard it knocked her to the ground and he fell over her rolling a few feet away still shocked. Cassie stood up laughing and bounced over to the two new comers. "Hi!" she said in reply.

Chris laughed as a boy and girl Pykiin ran into each other. "That didn't hurt?" He asked the girl.
Emily watched the two and wanted to join their game of tag. "I'm Emily and this is my brother Chris."

"No!" she said smiling.
"Maybe not for you..."said Seth standing up he already felt sore. He walked over to the two and Cale soon followed.
Cassie smiled. "I'm Cassie and this is Seth...the wussy...and my other brother Cale."
"Nice to meet you."said Cale smiling.

Chris laughed at Seth and Cassie. "Oh it couldn't have hurt that bad. I hit harder to the ground. I have a feeling your sister is much softer than the ground." He smiled.
"He's not exaggerating" Emily rolled her eyes. "He really does hit the ground quite often."
Chris looked at the ground, embarassed. Somehow when he talked about hitting the ground it sounded better than what his sister had said. What she said made him feel like he wasn't good enough.

"Sure... but she's a lot more pointy. Her elbows hurt."said Seth finally breaking a smile.
"But that's what makes being a big sister so enjoyable...they never see it coming!"said Cassie smiling.
"Technically we are the same age...." said Cale.
"Mom said i hatched first." stated Cassie matter-of-factly.
"Hitting the ground isn't all that bad...."began Cassie trying to make Chris look less embaressed."Sometimes it can be fun...gotta make the best it."she smiled slightly.

"She may be more pointy but she doesn't cause scrapes." Chris said still looking at the ground.
Emily smiled at the exchange between Cassie and Cale. "Technically me and Chris are the same age but I hatched first I know I did."
Chris looked up at Cassie, very briefly. He hoped she would see. "It isn't all that bad..." He was going to continue but then he just stopped.

"True." said Seth smiling.
"Does it really matter who hatched first?" asked Cale rolling his eyes at the two girls.
"Of course it does Cale! Your just jealous." Cassie said.
"Oh yes. That's what I am. Jealous. Of my sister who has the brain of a gold fish."he said sarcasticly.
"Whatever...and I do not! I'm smarter then you!" Cassie answered.
Cale said something to himself, but not loud enough for anyone to hear and then let it drop.
Cassie smiled when Chris looked up at her then spoke. "See! That's the attitude!"
