Orrtha glanced at her companions and realised that not all of them might have heard the stories that Amaranthine had told her. "They use this room to test magic and its effects on pykiin," she said shortly. "I'll have no part in that myself."
Suddenly finding an opportunity, Orrtha stood tall and looked Mist in the eye. "Alright, we'll answer your questions. But first, you'll have to explain yourself. And then I have questions for you, too."
Mist smiled. "You're a very brave and dignified young kit. Wise beyond your size, if I may say so myself."
Orrtha shrugged. "Ammy says I'm mature enough to grow before the next breeding season. I appreciate your idle comments, but-"
"Grow? Breeding?" Mist's expression turned into one of complete interest. "How do you-"
"but, I demand an explanation first." Orrtha's expression was not as easy to read, since her mouth was covered completely by tentacles. Her eyes held the same fire as before, though.
Her expression calming again, Mist nodded. "Fair enough.
"Lysana, the City of Syrens, is a thriving, beautiful place. This city is filled with activity, with living creatures who have established an organized social balance. We live in order, caring for ourselves and for the community through trade and specialization in different talents. We are intelligent, advanced, and wealthy... but we are endangered.
"Never in the history of Lysana has a Syren birthed or raised kits. And while our city continues to survive, there have been occasions when we've lost some of our citizens to accidental duckweed ingestion, or predators from the far ocean, or foreign sicknesses. And while our numbers continue to steadily fall, we've found that there is no way for us to restore the missing Syren. If we continue this way, without any way to reproduce, the Syren will, inevitably, be wiped out of existance.
"Now, you have your explanation. This is why you children are so fascinating to us - we don't understand you. And as odd as it is for an adult to ask it to a child - our survival depends on it. How did you get here?"

Brandy questioned the inquiry, “How did I get here?” There were many many possible answers in her mind all whirling about that she once again became dizzy.
“Urm, well… Uh…” She couldn’t explain how she got to the place she was in now, she had missed more than half of that journey. “Hum…” She mused for a moment. She thought about the question and what Mist had stated before hand.
With her brain fart in clear action she softly muttered, “Hurm, the Dryad?” She questioned her answer not truly sure how she manager to have life. She knew who her parents were. Heck, what ‘Kiin didn’t if they were born in the Valley?
She wasn't satisfyed with her answer, but it was about the only thing that made sense to her.

El sat down. She had know idea how to answer really. It was more of a thing that she knew happened and that was all that mattered there was no real reason to know...or for any matter care...until now. She looked at Mist."Good question!"she thought for another moment."I suppose the Dryad and well our parents too I suppose.Err....I believe something happens when two pykiin enter the Dryad,or so it seems, but beyond that I have no clue.I sure some of the adults who are parents would know better."

Lola watched the on goings quietly, as skill she had learned from Scratch.
"Kali told me we start as gemfruit, on the Dryad. So I guess you would need a Dryad, but I don't see how she could survive under the water. She can't eat the seagrasses now can she?"

"I do know there is more then all this water. There's a giant valley and I came from a big tree, called the Dryad." Laura swam around the others, and looked at the wall. "This is really pretty." She pawed the wall and jumped back. "Erm, why do you guys test magic on pykiin? That's just wrong in so many ways..." She swam back to her spot.

"Oh and the rodeli they don't live down here either. So even if you had kiins you couldn't grow them." Lola thought for a minute
"I know you should come to the valley with us, then you could see the Dryad and maybe something could be figured out."
Not to mention Lola thought it would get us out of this wate, and closer to Scratch. He had probably figured out that she wasn't just playing in the valley some where and would have started tracking her down by now.

Orrtha nodded in agreement with the other kiins' explanations, but Mist looked completely clueless. Quickly Orrtha elaborated, "The Dryad is a big tree in the middle of the Valley. She has a little cave inside of her trunk, and if you bring a special type of creature to her, her magic will do something for you. If you bring her a rodeli, she'll grow you into an adult, for example. "When two pykiin want to breed, they bring a Syora to the Dryad, and then both of them go in the Dryad together. Later, a little fruit grows on the Dryad's branches, and the fruit hatches into a baby pykiin." Mist looked at the group of pykiin for a while, then turned and pressed down on a small stone jutting out of a wall nearby. Immediately a stone door swung outwards, revealing a smaller room. Two small Syren trotted out into the open placidly, surveying the group of kiin with interest gleaming in their eyes. "These are the only kiin in Lysana. We've been keeping them under high security, because they were so precious. We have no idea where they came from or how they got here, but perhaps with your help we could have more kiin in the Syren city sooner than we expected." Mist gathered the two young Syren close to her, and they snuggled into her fur slightly. "I've been caring for them for about three months now." Orrtha softened and sat down, understanding Mist more than ever. "We can help," she said quietly. "Gather some of your citizens and prepare them to come into the Valley. While you're preparing, we'll talk to the leaders about what the Dryad can do to assist you." A smile played gently across Mist's face. "Thank you. I'll escort you and your friends back out to the pool."

((Oh mah gosh!! They are so cute! I love the first one. -squishes them- Who ever gets them is lucky! )) Laura looked at the kiin and smiled. "Aw, such cuties." She looked at Orrtha and then back at Mist. "I bet the Dryad would love new comers. She did when Kitsune came." She nodded and started to kick her legs. "How long does this gross stuff work?"

Brandy smiled at the two Syren 'Kiin. She flicked her tail and stated, "Well, I think that the Dryad would be happy to help." Staying where she was she waited patiently to be lead out of the pool, hoping to beable to experience the whole trip.

El looked at the kiin and smiled. She wanted to say hi and run and play, but knew she shouldn't. Obviously these kiin were special to the Syrens and palying with them probably would get her in trouble.Instead she sat in silence until everyone was ready to go back up to the surface again.

Lola strolled over to the syren Kiin. "Hi I'm Lola. You two have beautiful eyes." She fluttered her wings and sat down.

The small blue Syren grinned sheepishly while the maroon kiin raised his chin slightly. "Thanks. You have a very pretty mask," he said, smiling.
"Now boys, no flirting with the little ladies," Mist said jokingly, waving the two small kiin back towards their room. "I need to take them home, and we can visit them later."
"Aww, can't we come with?" The striped marroon syren pouted. "Pleeeeeease? We barely ever even leave this room! It would be an adventure!" He grinned and swept his tail back and forth. His ice-colored brother nodded in meek agreement.
After looking at them for a moment with uncertainty, Mist agreed. "Alright. You children need to grow up sometime, I guess." While the two young boys rejoiced and swam about in joy, Mist opened up the door and escorted the group of kiin back to the waterfall. While the rest of the kiin swam through towards the Valley, Orrtha stopped. She turned to Mist and asked, "Do you know anything about Davy Jones?"
"Your father, apparently," Mist nodded. "Yes, he lives on a swamp at the far end of the city tunnels. Sometimes we can hear him play his organ from our house, but very few Syren have actually talked with him.
"You should really be going, but please come back to visit us as soon as you've talked with your leaders. And, please... take care of my boys," Mist finished quietly.
"There are plenty of pykiin who would risk their lives to protect kiin in the Valley," Orrtha said reassuringly. "I'll find them families who'll take care of them, promise," she said, laying a paw on Mist's shoulder briefly. Then, quickly, she turned and swam through the waterfall after her companions.

Laura waved good-bye to the Syren that had told them information, Laura sort of forgot her name.
She stayed behind the group again, feeling a bit timid around the new comers of the valley. She was actual quiet and shy. This is a new step for Laura. I guess it's a new door.
She took a deep breathe and swam quicker to keep up with the group.

El nodded good by to Mist and swam after Orrtha watching the two Syrens with amazement. She had just seen Syren and now got to see the first 2 Syren kiin! This had obviously been an exciting day for her.

"Thanks" Lola said in reply to the kiin, then with a nod for Mist and a wink for the boys she dove through the waterfall and was away.
