I cannot believe that there isn't a thread for this fabulous movie. Anywho, I loved the movie overall, but my favorite quote (which I will find a use for some day), was by Braun (who's name I'm sure I spelled wrong >.< ). "It is better to ask forgiveness than permission." <3

Have you read the book? Personally, I think the book was much better than the movie. It was able to go into all the motivations, plus the movie took all the good scenes from the book and shoved them together all out of context.
I'm afraid that quote is not unique to this movie. It's very popular, and I've seen it countless places before Eragon was even written.
However, if you haven't read the book, it would be a really good movie. I enjoyed it, which for me is high praise. I'm not a movie person.

Meh. I liked the book a lot, and I really feel that the movie didn't do the book justice at all. After that I lost interest in the book because its plotline no longer held its original charm - I moved on to different interests, I guess - and the movie in turn seemed worse. Looking back, the plotline wasn't extraordinarily original either. I'm starting to be drawn to things that are unique and compelling because they're new for me, so I might sound like a complete spoilsport.

Yeah, I was wondering about that quote, Raenia, when I went to look on Google at who made the quote in the movie. >.>' Oops. I learned that I cannot go to the theater with my friend Emma (code name) by this movie, since she had read the book and literally was whispering in my ear, "Panda, you won't like this part." "I can't believe they did that!" "Oh my gosh, it was so much better than the book." I can't nessessarily blame her, but it was funny that she couldn't let me watch the movie in peace. My two other friends who were there (t'was my thirteenth birthday party) weren't too pleased, either. xD Yeah... it bothers me if there's not a very good plotline. I'll probably read the book when I'm done with The Hobbit and the Mythology book I need to read for Honors English in HS next year. Great books, but Eragon was much higher on my list of books to read due to how long I've been meaning to read it.

Just warning you, the movie will suffer in comparison. I totally agree with k13 here. I still read the next one, but it definately lost something.
I had trouble keeping my thoughts on the way the movie butchered the book to myself too. Fortunately, the person I was seeing it with had already seen it, so I wasn't ruining it for him.

I haven't read the book series, but even with that, I was really appauled by the movie. >_> I could tell it was a butchering of a good story. Most of the time I was confused and not sure why they were doing whatever it is they were doing at the time. And the characters really seemed flat and not explored to their full potential. My biggest grief is one particular scene where I had to physically hold myself back from throwing my popcorn at the screen. When Saphira flies into the sky as a baby...then there's a flash of lightning... then she flies back down to the ground as an adult. What the!? What are we supposed to think, she's a Pokemon!? You think it might be a symbol for her growing over time, but I don't think so because the boy didn't look any older after it. I think the directors want us to assume she "magically" grew up in an instant, which I think is dumb. Okay that's my mini-rant. lol. *gets off soap box*

"And the characters really seemed flat"
Agreed >.< I'm sorry, but the acting seemed so forced and the characters were completely lost. The only one who I really liked was Murtagh, he seemed pretty natural and at ease with his character.
I'll still read the third book when it comes out, because I want to know how the story ends of course, but it's becoming more and more "hero's quest" material for me. The world, the characters, and the ideas are interesting - and those are really the intriguing parts of the fantasy realm - but the downfall of fantasy writing in general is that themes get re-used over and over again.

The movie... isn't so good. Angela looked like a freakin gypsy and the Za'roc looked like a bunch of zombies besides insecty humans >> And what happened to Snowfire? The white trusty stallion got turned into a black Friesian -.- But no matter, the movie was ok. I did like Saphira, she was pretty. But her huge growth wasn't at all to nice. In all, I liked the book better

They have change this series from The Inheritance trilology to the Inheritance Cycle. He decided that there was too many ends to tie up for it to end in the third book.
Also the book Eragon was originally a self published, self marketed book by the author and his family before a major house picked it up. When he was approached for the movie deal the movie guys didn't ask him if there was going to be more books apparently there was alot that they didn't discuss before the movie rights of Eragon were sold. Now that Eldedst is out and Brisinger is soon to come I wonder what the movie guys are thinking about doing.
After I read the books I was not happy with the movie. The "meat" of the book was left completely out if you blinked you missed Angela and didn't see Solumbum at all. I agree with Ditzee that Eldest as a book was brillant and the fact that the author is so young when he started writing these just makes it that much more so.
Anxiously awaiting Brisinger

Again, I agree completely. Murtagh was easily the best acting job. Eragon was not at all into the character. Brom was ok just because the character was so remote, but there were many moments when I just went ugh.
It'll be interesting to see if they make more movies. It could be hard, since they messed up so much in this one. I don't know if I'd see any sequels they did make anyway.

Heh - I follow the author around enough to know these things ^^ And I'm super excited! He's gonna have a 4th book. Which might come out in another year or two though.
Ugh, I don't know if I can stand to watch another Eragon sequel to the movie. It was horrible, and I was heartbroken cause I'm a big fan of the book.

Glad to hear Murtagh was liked, he's really quite an amazing person. Met him last summer he's a friends cousin and was visiting. I think he did do one of the best acting jobs in the movie, not that I'm biased or anything... >.>'
I thought the movie was okay, I've never read the books unfortunatly, but I've heard that the movie absolutly butchered the book. *shrugs* I guess it was just one of those movies that's great if you don't read the book, but makes you sick if you did.

Wow. I thought he was the cutest actor in the movie too *tee hee* Yeah, if you see him tell him we all think he did the best acting job. And let us know if he's going to be in anything else!
