I was too, but really I was more disturbed by the "greedy look in Snape's eyes". It sounded... extremely sinister, worded that way. As was the Ariana issue with the three boys, I'm still hesitantly curious as to what really happened to her - was it really as bad as it sounded, or am I just overreacting?

I didn't say it was entirely too happy, I only thought that the very last part was too happy. It was like after they survived Voldemort, nothing bad happened to them, they all got happily married, and had lots of children, and there were no more problems in their lives. I don't think more people should have died, I just thought the very end could have been less happy.

I wouldn't say that. Harry even knew when he was with Dumbledore that going back meant more pain, more suffering, more sadness. And Rowling was just choosing a particularly happy moment of his life to show people that yes, it really did end well.
Of course, I'm sure Albus and James drove their parents up the wall with their bickering x3 "No, you and Al will share a room only when I want the house demolished."

I understand what you're saying, but that's just how I felt about it. I was left in shock from the deaths, and then we suddenly jumped to a happy moment years later. I wanted the ending to be more bittersweet, to remember everyone who died, not just get past them.

Rowlings has always said that if they survived book 7 they would live Happily ever after but I mean come on after defeating Voldy how bad can day to day life be really?
Percy came through in the end and WOW Mrs Weasley!! Loved that!
The dragon yeah not such a happy image but hey they freed him they helped with the spells and things to get him out of the tunnels.
The sword got back into the hat the same way that it got there in the first place I guess. Remember Bill said that goblins have a weird obsession for goblin made items and consider any that are passed wizard to wizard as stolen. The fact that Griffindor paid for it would have only covered his life time, but as it was there for a true Griffindor to pull out of the hat the first time once gone from wizard possession it must have returned to the hat I would almost assume that there was a spell on it to aid any Griffindor in need.
Fred O.O why why why?!?! I guess it would have been a stretch to have all the Weasley's survive but come on Percy was right there...
Tonks and Lupine I DID have to go back and read again cause I missed it the first time round. Poor little Teddy.
And Creevy hmm was that one necessary well atleast Crabbe went out as well or was it Goyle can't remember now.
Yay Lee Jordan I knew I liked him. and am glad that he had some kind of role in this one.
I loved that scene in the dorms when Harry popped out from the cloak and startled Mc Gonagal "uh uh that was very gallant of you.." and "aren't you supposed to be looking for something"
And let's here it for Ron and Hermione with the basilsk fangs! That was a stroke of genius.
I did end up deciding to re-read them all again. so I am nearly through one now.

Oh and one more thing Let's hear it for Dudley whom despite his parents actually did grow some sort of character.

Yeah, Percy kind of surprised me. I loved it when he burst into the room and everything went into awkward silence mode, then Lupin started passing around pictures of Teddy xD
I do agree that Percy was a much bigger waste of air than Fred was, though.
I completely forgot about Creevy. I don't really care about the kid. Crabbe (I believe) went down in his own flames - totally deserving of it, too. OH, and I loved it when Malfoy was pleading with a Death Eater and Harry stunned the dude. Ron's exclamation nearly killed me with laughter, it was the perfect comeback x3
Lee Jordan was quite a cool minor character, I agree. His Quidditch match exclamations during the first book or two (I can't remember when he was kicked off the job) were absolute gold.
Dudley... I gasp at your sudden change of heart.

Yeah, I caught Lupin the first time, but I missed Tonks. When I finally realized she was dead, I just stopped reading for a moment and stared at the page.
Dobby! When he died, I was so sad, I just had to say something. Unfortunately, I was with one person who had already finished and two people who weren't as far along as I was, so I couldn't say much, but I was very upset.
Yay for Dudley, there's something worth saving there after all!
Percy's reenterence really startled me. He disappeared for a while, and suddenly had a change of heart? Still, it was a nice thing to have the family back together for a few minutes.
I barely noticed Creevy. Neville was great, though. He really showed everyone, including himself, that he deserved to be in Gryffindor.
I guess I just don't like happily ever afters. It doesn't resonate with me the way other types of endings do.

And Finally Harry got it through his head he doesn't have to do it all alone.
Lee got lost the job in 5, I think, when everything else went to the evil pink.
Had to re-read the Hedwig scene barely phased me bout Moody. The eye on pink things door bothered me. I did cry alittle when Harry was digging Dobby's grave
I was too upset by Fred to catch Lupine, Tonks and Creevy till afterward when Harry was going back over everyone who had died in the fight to protect him then I was like What ok I missed something and had to go back a few pages.
I never really liked Snape but I was glad he was vendicated in the end because Dumbledore had such faith in him. Those memories cleared up ALOT I felt sorry for him which I really didn't want to do, since he killed Albus but a quick and painless death would be preferable to the lingering curse Dumbledore was suffering.
Anybody else get their hopes up slightly when we saw that blue eye in the mirror? I knew he was dead but just for a few I thought maybe...
I like Happily ever afters after the life they have lived for the last seven years they deserve a peaceful life. Besides if Harry doesn't live a peaceful life and gets into anymore of those fights the elder wand would come back into play if someone defeats him.

I figured he wouldn't but as they are now all together Lily, James, Sirius, Lupine, and the rest they are probably happier anyway.

Just finished reading today, so FINALLY I can come to this forum. hahaha. I only buy paperbacks, and usually I try to avoid spoilers for a year and then read my own paperback when it comes out (I have a thing abotu not reading a book until I own it). Buuuuut my friend swore she would literally kill me if she had to wait a year before we could rp the seventh year with our HP characters, so I borrowed the book from my boss and read it this weekend. XD
My boss is awesome. Last week we got Monday off as a "Harry Potter office holiday" so that she and the rest of us could skip work and read the book all weekend. Yes, we actually got work off to read HP! LOL! But of course, I didn't buy the book that weekend so I didn't read it. Plus, I don't work Mondays anyway so it wasn't a holday for me.... still, the boss is pretty cool. lol.
Most of my feelings have already been said in these past three pages. I'm angry at Hedwig's death, felt little for Moody, very upset by Fred, and almost missed completely Tonks and Lupin. I must say I didn't feel much for them. Tonks was never a character I cared for much, neither was Lupin. I want to know if teddy is a werewolf, though. >:3
My boss was talking to us on Friday (being careful because I hadn't read it) and she said she felt very unsatisfied by the epilogue, she would have liked more explanation. Me, I think it went perfect, so I'm not sure what she meant. haha. But she did say that Rawlings was on the Today Show and said she was writing a "Harry Potter Encyclopedia" that will go into more stuff than the epilogue did, so my boss is happy about that. Haha.
Poor dragon... you have no idea how PISSED I am at how Rawlings treats dragons....grr... I take GREAT offense in the fourth book, when they use dragons as part of the triwizard test. Yes, let's threaten mother dragons with their eggs, all for a stupid test, shall we!? And GRRRRR the part that gets me the most is when she wrote one character "lost all his points because he confused the dragon and she fell on and smashed her own eggs." I was seeing red at that point. That's as bad as Voldemort!! You don't use a mother and her children like that just for some test!! That's murderous!
Ahem, yes, must calm down.... >_>
*thinks of something funny* Oh yeah, my fave part about the epilogue was Draco and his family. I laughed and said out loud "Oh, I'm so glad they didn't name Draco's wife. Now she can be EVERY FANFIC WRITER'S CHARACTER"
XD I had a good laugh at that. Hee hee. I amuse myself so much.
But yes...dragons....HP world....grrrr.....me so angry.....sure Rawlings makes sure to note how we should fight for centaur, goblin and house elf rights... but who fights for the rights of the non-humanoids? NO ONE! >_< Well, at least they saved Buckbeak...
Oh, K13, I was puzzled about Nelville getting the sword as well, but don't forget what Dumbledore said. When a true Gryfindor needs it, it will come to his call. Or something like that. Like when Harry pulled it out of the hat to fight the Basilisk. :3
Aww, the only time I cried was when Dobby died. And a little with Fred. But more Dobby. Poor thing.
