Edit: There is hope!! Apparently, the "virus" wasn't really a virus. Instead, I had so much spyware installed on my computer that would connect to the internet automatically and slow it down an extreme amount until it crashed every single time I tried to reboot it. Dad cut off the internet connection, and afterwards everything ran extremely smoothly - no popups, no lags, nothing! So, thanks to Papa, I now have spyware software tracking and eliminating the extreme amount of junk on my poor compy. *dances happily*
For those of you who were following the Growing/Alteration event, you know that I had been having a few computer issues two nights ago.
Well, no need to worry about those issues anymore.
...Because my computer is dead.
*moment of silence for the faithful hunk of metal*
Apparently, the popups were just a warm-up to the virus that hit it last night. I couldn't get the spyware scanner to work - it crashed my computer every time, even before the situation got really bad.
Fortunately, many of my files are safe and sound. I can still use my tablet on the computer upstairs, and I have my program installed upstairs as well. But, since I'm not the only family member that uses that computer, I won't have nearly as much time to work on things.
Basically, expect a delay in Pykiin updates. Customs will be cancelled until I can get a brand new computer sometime during late June. I will finish up the alterations that have been sent in so far, and with luck the countdown to 100 might not be postponed.
Also, to help save up for my new computer, I may start offering customs for real money - including a chance to get new mutations (I'm thinking around $15-20 for a custom new mutation but would like feedback on that).
As for this community, I promise I'll keep things updated as much as possible. I love the Pykiin Valley and would never completely desert it, but sometimes real life is a huge pain in the neck. I'm going to ask the Mods to step up and help out as much as possible, and may appoint another administrator as well. Things are just really tough for me at the moment, and not only because I've lost my computer.
I thank you all for your continued patience and participation around the boards - it means the world to me that you guys are so dedicated to the Valley and appreciative of my work. And I promise that I'll do my best to keep things up and running, but I just wanted everyone to know why there's going to be such a lag during the next few months. Don't worry, though - once summer rolls around, things will be moving twice as fast!
